You must subscribe to The Reading Nook. Then you’ll receive an email containing the password needed to access the freebies page.

It does, but you have to make sure to enter the password without any CAPS and/or SPACES, especially on mobile phones where the autocorrect often automatically adds a cap at the beginning of the word.

EBOOKS (ALL COUNTRIES)

The best way to support me is to purchase the ebooks directly from my store, or on Amazon. To this day, I still prefer people buying on Amazon.

Why is that?

Through my own digital store is where I get paid the most (after my distributor and payment processing fees). But the reason I still recommend Amazon despite them being, well, Amazon, is because for independent authors, they are still the best option for reach, visibility and payout altogether. That’s also why I always need more reviews on Amazon. To this day, I’d say roughly 90% of my sales come from them. Do I like it? No, but. I don’t want to operate at a loss and without them, I can no longer finance the next project.

That being said, I’d love to get discovered on Kobo! Yes they are also billionaire-owned (few aren’t), but don’t hesitate to buy your books from there (and leave a review, please). They have a similar program to Kindle Unlimited named Kobo Plus and all of my books are available through it.

Although my books are now available on Bookshop.org and I support their endeavours, authors there do get paid less than on other platforms. If you still wish to purchase through them because they’re awesome but you don’t know which bookstore to support, my personal choice is Lighthouse Bookstore in Edinburgh.

When my books aren’t exclusive to Amazon, you can also buy them on Apple, Google Play, Kobo, Barnes and Noble, etc. That works too.

Kindle Unlimited readers (when applicable): even if you want to support me by re-reading my work several times on K.U., authors only get paid the first time. So if you really loved the book, consider purchasing it (from my direct store if possible) the next time you want to read it.

For paperbacks, it depends on your region (see below).

PAPERBACKS
USA

The best place to buy my paperbacks at this point is Amazon (they offer the best royalties). You can also buy direct (check the specific book page for the link). I also really appreciate people ordering my books from indie bookstores, or from Barnes and Noble. The more people order my books, the more bookshop owners might take notice of them and might even stock them one day.

UNITED KINGDOM

The best place to buy my paperbacks is The Great British Bookshop. They’re not a monolith like Amazon, so they charge for shipping, but the quality of the print is vastly superior and the royalty rate is unbeatable to this day.

Or you can also buy direct (check the specific book page for the link). I’m working on a different way to buy straight from this website, but I don’t feel confident about launching it yet. The thing is, I don’t want to get in trouble with HMRC, and I’m definitely the kind of scatterbrain who’d get in trouble with HMRC. (If I ever make it as an author, my first order of business will be to hire a lawyer an accountant.)

Then there is Amazon, who despite being Amazon, still pays indie authors decent royalties (for now).

I also really appreciate people ordering my books from indie bookstores, especially from Lighthouse Bookshop in Edinburgh. This wonderful bookstore is the only one I know for sure was stocking my debut novel and we share more than a love for books.

Also please consider buying my books from Gay’s The Word in London. The more readers place orders there, the more likely they might take notice of me and stock my books one day — and I would be glad to see my work on their shelves. So the next time you visit the shop, ask them about my books, and be rewarded in the next life! (No promises, though.)

EUROPE / REST OF THE WORLD

The best place to buy my paperbacks at this point is Amazon (they offer the best royalties). I also really appreciate people ordering my books from indie bookstores. The more people order my books, the more bookshop owners might take notice of them and might even stock them one day.

If you have difficulties finding my books, Blackwell’s and The Great British Bookshop ship to many destinations, but you will have to pay custom fees (on top of shipping fees) depending on your country of residence, so be very careful before placing an order.

Thank you for having an interest in the best way to support your indie authors. It’s much appreciated.

The book is no longer available except to readers who have purchased a previous edition before July 2023. You’ll find all the information about that here.

I’ve heard the complaints: You’re The One For Me is too slow and way too long, it needs to be cut in half, there’s too much dialogue that serves no purpose. (As an appreciator or endless dialogue, I humbly disagree on the last one, oops.)

Bear in mind that I have no idea what I’m doing, and so I’m making mistakes and I’m trying to learn from them. Of course, re-editing the book has been on my mind, but for every complaint I receive, I get two messages from readers who love it as long as it is.

Though I’m acutely aware of the problems in this book, I’m going to own my mistakes and leave it as is, because to some, it’s a beloved slow burn of a book, and a summer favourite.

Potentially, yes!

As of now, I’ve opened ARC applications for three of my books (Colette International 1 to 3), meaning I’m open to give away a free book in exchange for a voluntary review. You can find more information here.

I have no intention of opening ARC applications for Code Name: 1989 (Colette International Book 5).

Finally, ARCs will be offered to the first 50 subscribers of the Dead Things Came To Life Updates mailing list* as well as Patreon supporters if I ever launch my Patreon page.

* The 50 spots have already been claimed.

Although I would love for my books to be adapted into audiobooks, I can’t afford the costs of production at this stage of my career.

I’m taking this opportunity to remind you I know what it’s like to be broke, but I do not and will never support the use of artificial intelligence to replace narrators, to generate art / book covers, or to write and translate novels—using data stolen from unconsenting artists.

I do not support generative AI as it exists today. Assistive AI is a different matter.

I’m not responsible for printing issues. However, if the book you purchased was missing a chapter, or featured another formatting error making the reading experience impossible, please reach out to me with proof of purchase and a picture of the problem, and I will replace your copy for you free of charge.

Note that if you report to me a major flaw in the ebook version, I will have it replaced immediately. Then you will be able to update your copy manually, or Kindle will do it for you if you have the “Automatic Updates” enabled in your Amazon account settings. If that doesn’t work, I will send you a new copy by email.

I am aware of the missing chapter in a later version of He Looks So Fine: Part One. A maximum of 14 copies are concerned. Please reach out for a free replacement.

ABOUT THE SERIES

The Colette series isn’t over, but the next installments might take a long time to come out. I’m not comfortable talking release dates in public anymore. Each time I announce a date, life gets in the way and I have to postpone, so it’s best I no longer attempt to predict the future.

As of now, a fifth installment is in the works. We Were The First. With the way life is at the moment, it takes much longer for me to be able to professionally produce books. I’ve recently taken another writing job in order to be able to finance my queer books, so I don’t have a release date yet.

If you want to be kept up to date with the next releases, sign up to my newsletter, The Reading Nook. Tick the Colette International box if you only receive emails about this specific series. Thank you for your support!

The school is fictional, but if it existed, the address would be Rue des Ecoles, 75005 Paris. The 5th district clearly is very dear to me, and this is where you’ll find me if I ever move to Paris.

Eric met Zak after football practice when Zak was on his way to perform “that Shakespeare thing they botched in April”, which explains why he was wearing a feathery hat.
